New Patients

I am now open to new patients! I am very excited to work with you, but let’s make sure it is a good fit, please read through this page and my About page before scheduling a phone call below to get you set up as a new patient.

Important Information:

  • I am licensed in Washington and Oregon only. Please do not try to establish care if you can not be physically present in those states at the time of our telemedicine appointments. An occasional in-person visit will also be required, once per year minimum is ideal, please make sure that is doable for you as well.
  • I am currently offering mostly telemedicine with some in-person availability for those who have a strong preference for it and for when we need to do physical exams. See Contact tab for location info.
  • I am a specialty care physician, not a primary care physician. It is a requirement for you to have an established PCP while under my care. PCPs are important for all the things I don’t focus my attention on, like health maintenance screenings. Many of my patients say they feel I become the most important person on their care team, but this doesn’t make me a PCP, that is a completely different role.
  • As a specialty care physician in private practice, I do not accept insurance. The insurance system is designed to minimize time spent with the patient (average of 15 minutes) and maximize profit for insurance companies. This is simply not a sustainable practice for me or my patient population. The comprehensive time I spend with you and the personalized approach to your care will be determined from what we choose, not from what insurance companies dictate. Many people are not aware of how insurance company standards, policies, and reimbursement fees dictate the time and the care they receive in our current healthcare system model. I am sympathetic to the financial challenges this can present to my patients and I go above and beyond to reduce cost of your treatment where I can.
  • Upon request, I will give you a superbill which you may submit to your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you for our appointments (you may call now to ask if your insurance will cover any portion of a visit with an out-of-network Naturopathic Doctor).
  • I am still often able to order labs and imaging and prescribe pharmaceuticals in a way that your insurance will cover (the notable exception is if medicare is your primary insurance, labs and imaging will not be covered). I do have low-cost lab options for those who need it.
  • Cost:
    • New patient 1 visit, 90 min: $425 ($100 of which will be paid as a non-refundable deposit upon scheduling)
    • New patient 2 visit, 75 min: $325
    • Follow up appointments, 60 min: $225
  • How often we will meet varies. A common schedule is the second appointment happens 3-4 weeks after the first, and then follow ups about every 4-6 weeks until we decide that should change.
  • If you cannot currently afford to see me or you are not located in Washington or Oregon please try an internet search with the name of your diagnosis or suspected diagnosis to see if you can find someone in your area that might work for you. It can also be helpful to add the following terms to your search: Naturopath, Naturopathic Doctor, or Functional Medicine Doctor.
